Falcons Accelerate Policies & Code of Conduct

Behavior

Our ELOP/Falcons Accelerate staff employs positive discipline methods, including restorative practices, to promote self-control, independence, and cooperation. By using restorative practices, we aim to resolve conflicts, build relationships, and foster a sense of community within the program. Along with setting reasonable limits, we help children understand what is expected of them, ensuring that they feel secure knowing we care enough to prevent them from hurting themselves or others.

All rules and regulations that apply at every Feaster Charter/CVESD school site are also enforced in the ELOP program. Participation in ELOP is a privilege, and any disruptive behavior that negatively impacts the program may result in dismissal. Please review the following behavior expectations for the Falcons Accelerate ELOP.

Student Expectations

Violations of these expectations can lead to dismissal:

  • Students are expected to follow the directions of adult staff on campus. If they present a safety concern to themselves or others, this could result in immediate dismissal from the program.
  • Students are expected to exercise care when using charter school property, including but not limited to: computers, games, PE equipment, books, pens, pencils, school supplies, etc.
  • Students are expected to follow all Feaster Charter/CVESD Board Policies and Regulations related to student behavior.
  • Students are expected to follow all Feaster Charter/CVESD policies regarding student cell phone use.
  • Students are expected to follow the Falcons Accelerate Attendance and Registration Policy

Falcons Accelerate Attendance

Registration & Attendance Requirements

  • Students must be fully enrolled in Jumbula within the first two club days of attendance.
  • If a student has 3 unexcused absences after registration is complete OR if they have not showed up for 2 consecutive club days, they will be placed back on the waitlist.

Initial Attendance Without Registration

  • If a student attends class for the first time without proper registration after the two-week grace period, they will be referred to the office.
  • The office will contact the parent/guardian, and the student will be directed to a designated ELOP (Extended Learning Opportunities Program) club while waiting for their parent/guardian to pick them up.

Subsequent Attendance Without Registration:

  • If a student attends class without proper registration for a second time (or any further occurrences), they will be sent directly to the office.
  • The office will contact the parent/guardian to pick up the student.

Office Role

  • The office will not handle student registration but will serve as the initial hub for receiving and directing students either to a holding club or for parent/guardian pick-up.

Normal Instructional Time Attendance:

  • To participate in any afterschool learning activities, the student must have attended the normal day of instruction as well or received an excused absence for the normal instructional day. Failure to attend normal instructional day class will result in the student not being able to stay for expanded learning activities AND result in an unexcused absence for the ELOP club attendance policy.

Curriculum

Is there a published curriculum I can refer to?

Falcons Accelerate (ELOP) is an enrichment program with opportunities for both intervention and enrichment. The summer program provides a safe environment for students to participate in low-stress, fun learning activities. The focus is on expanding and enhancing student knowledge through engaging STEM activities, structured play, social/emotional learning, computer coding, makerspace activities, arts and crafts, performing arts, and more.

Is daily attendance mandatory? What if my child participates in other activities during the summer?

attendance

During the school year, the intent is for students to participate in the entire program or minicamp, starting directly after the school day and lasting until final pickup no later than 5:00 PM. In the intercession programs, students are expected to participate in the full day of activities from 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Regular absences, late arrivals, or late departures may result in dismissal from the program to make space for others. See Attendance and Registration Policy for more details.

Weather

During extreme heat, will the kids be allowed to stay inside the classroom?

Staff will monitor the heat and follow CVESD district protocols related to hot weather.
